UK Meningitis Outbreak

he Men B vaccine was introduced into the Irish schedule for babies in 2016 so those born before 2016 are not vaccinated against it.
There is no currently outbreak of meningococcal disease in Ireland, so the National Immunisation Advisory Committee have not made any new recommendations for vaccination.
Men B is given as part of the immunisation schedule at 2 months and 4 months which protects the baby for the first year of life with a booster at 12 months to protect for the second year of life. Men B over the age of 2 years is only recommended for those aged 2 and over in at risk groups. The incidence of meningococcal disease is greatly diminished after the age of 23 years. unless they are in an at risk group.

Prescription Request

Please use the link to send us a full list of required medications, dose and duration. All prescriptions are usually ready 2 working days after the request is received. Prescriptions are now submitted electronically to your pharmacy so please ensure to include the name and location of your pharmacy. There will be occasions where the doctor feels that in fact you need a review of medication/conditions before issuing a repeat prescription. This is for your safety and also at times can be to comply with tight prescribing legislation
